«From a songwriter to the creator of the «Theory of Creative Waves» – on the 85th anniversary of the birth of Eduard Semenovich Khanok, Belarusian and Russian musician and composer, People’s Artist of Belarus

 

April 18 marks the 85th anniversary of the birth of Eduard Semenovich Khanok, a Belarusian and Russian musician and composer, People’s Artist of Belarus.

E.S.Khanok was born on April 18, 1940 in the Kazakh SSR in the family of a military man. After the Great Patriotic War, he lived with his parents at his father’s place of service in Slutsk, then in Brest. In 1962, he graduated from the Minsk State Musical College named after M.I.Glinka. In December 1962, he was accepted to the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I.Tchaikovsky. In 1971, he became a laureate of the television festival «Song-71». In 1973, he became a member of the Union of Composers of the USSR. Since 1982, Honored Cultural Worker of the Byelorussian SSR. Since 1996, People’s Artist of Belarus.

On the YouTube channel of BGAKFFD, in honor of the 85th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian and Russian musician and composer, People’s Artist of Belarus Eduard Semenovich Khanok, a promotional video for the exhibition «From a composer-songwriter to the creator of the «Theory of Creative Waves» has been posted.

At present, the funds of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents contain 15 storage units of sound documents from 1966 to 2020, 17 storage units of film documents from 1984 to 2017, 6 accounting units of sound documents from 1980 to 2019 related to the work of E.S.Khanok.

The photo documents are represented by portraits of the composer and his pictures with his daughter and colleagues.

Film documents with the participation of E.S.Khanok are presented by the chronicle materials «V International Festival of Arts «Slavianski Bazaar-96» and «Moments of the VI International Festival of Arts «Slavianski Bazaar-97» in Vitebsk», TV versions of «VII National Television Competition «Televershina» (2011) and «Musical Evenings in Mir Castle. Concert of People’s Artist of Russia E. Khil and People’s Artist of Belarus E.Khanok» (2011), stories of weekly information programs «Contours», «Week». Separately, it is necessary to note the programs «Passions for Culture. Creativity without cuts» (2010) and «Tuning Fork. Eduard Khanok» (2014). In the first, E.S.Khanok talks about the «Theory of Creative Waves» developed by him, the second is dedicated to the composer’s work.

The archive’s sound library contains the story of the Belarusian composer E.S.Khanok about his creative path and a recording of a creative meeting of E.S. Khanok with employees of the Gorizont PO in the 1980s, as well as radio programs «The Paths of Development of the Belarusian Variety Art» and «The Muses Are Not Silent» with the composer’s participation.

E.S.Khanok is the author of the popular songs «Winter», «The Noise of Birches», «The Song of a First-Grader», «Malinovka», «Two Fields», «I Live with My Grandmother», «Crane», «Zavirukha», «Hello, Stranger, Sweetheart», «Samurai» and many others. The repertoires of the ensembles «Verasy», «Syabry» and «Pesnyary» were formed from his works. He is also the creator of the «Theory of Creative Waves».
