On the participation of archivists of Belarus in the International Conference «1941-1945. Memory is Alive» (Yekaterinburg)

On April 16, 2025, the International Scientific and Practical Conference on the Problems of Preserving the Historical Memory of the Great Patriotic War «1941-1945. Memory is Alive» was held in Yekaterinburg. The main organizers of the forum were the Archives Department of the Sverdlovsk Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region.

Archivists of Belarus took an active part in the conference. At the plenary session, Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus A.E.Tsvetkov addressed the participants of the event in the videoconference format with a welcoming speech. He noted the importance of holding the forum both in the context of celebrating a significant date common for Belarus and Russia – the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and from the point of view of exchanging experience between archivists of the two countries. A.E.Tsvetkov noted that within the framework of the cooperation agreement, active interaction between archival institutions from Belarus and the Sverdlovsk region has already begun, and this event will certainly contribute to this cooperation.

The following archivists from Belarus took part in the sectional work of the conference: Deputy Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, PhD in History S.V.Kulinok (report «Activities of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus to Preserve the Historical Memory of the Events of the Great Patriotic War); Head of the Publications Department U.A.Kolobaeva (report «Publications of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus on the History of the Great Patriotic War, Published in 2024-2025»); Head of the Department of Personal Funds I.V.Dorogush (report «Acquisition of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus with Documents of Participants in the Great Patriotic War and Their Use»); Director of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno I.Z.Pudakevich (report «Living Memory: Fostering Patriotism through Historical Truth»).

All reports by Belarusian archivists aroused keen interest and discussion among the participants of the International Conference.
