BGAMLI employees visited the exhibition «Pushkin. War. Blockade»

On April 14, 2025, employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) visited the opening of the exhibition «Pushkin. War. Blockade» at the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

This project is presented by the All-Russian A.S.Pushkin Museum and was created as a tribute to the memory of artists – blockade survivors and front-line soldiers from Leningrad.

The tradition of celebrating Pushkin Memorial Day, which originated in 1925 – 100 years ago – was not interrupted even during the most difficult years of the blockade.

The exhibition is based on portraits of the poet, illustrations for his works, views of Leningrad and other Pushkin places. The exhibition presents works by artists E.Belukha, I.Bilibin, E.Gallerbach, V.Zverev, B.Kozhin, L.Kruglikova, K.Lepilov, N.Tyrsa, brothers N. and A.Ushin, V.Fedorov, P.Shillingovsky and others. They have one thing in common – they lived, fought and died in the besieged city, fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition is accompanied not only by biographical information about the artists, but also excerpts from their blockade and front-line diaries and memoirs. Thanks to this documentary evidence, the theme of the existence of a creative personality in inhuman conditions comes to the fore.

The exhibition made a strong impression on the BGAMLI employees, allowed them to touch history, feel the tragedy of the besieged Leningrad and once again be convinced of the enduring value of the work of A.S.Pushkin.
