Participation of the State Archives of the Mogilev Region Institution in an Ideological Training Session for Employees of the Territorial Enforcement Bodies of the Main Justice Department of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee

On April 11, 2025, an ideological training session on the topic «The Voice of the People: on the 30th Anniversary of the First Referendum of the Republic of Belarus» was held in the assembly hall of the Enforcement Department of the Main Justice Department of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee.

As part of the session, the leading archivist of the Department of Scientific Use of Documents and Information of the State Archives of the Mogilev Region institution, Aleksey Shvyryov, spoke to the employees. During the speech, the topics of the political and socio-economic situation in the Republic of Belarus on the eve of the 1995 referendum; issues proposed for national discussion; voting results and the impact they had on the future of the country were touched upon. The 1995 referendum established equal status for the Russian and Belarusian languages, the government received a people’s mandate for a course of economic integration with the Russian Federation, and the country acquired new state symbols. In fact, it was this event that largely determined the foreign policy and internal model of the Belarusian state for the coming years.
