Excursion to the Zonal State Archives of Molodechno: master classes on document repair and a visit to the storage facility

As part of the republican campaign «Archives for School», the institution «Zonal State Archives in Molodechno» was visited by students of grades 1-4 of the school camp «Sunny City» of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.12 of Molodechno». The excursion began with a welcoming speech by archive employees Elena Tomkovich and Olga Berezovskaya, who told about its history, main tasks and the importance of archival documents for preserving cultural heritage. Participants learned how archives help researchers, historians and ordinary citizens in finding information. One of the most exciting moments of the excursion was a visit to the storage facility. The students were able to see how the storage of documents is organized, what measures are taken to protect and preserve them. After the excursion to the storage facility, the children were invited to master classes on document repair. At the end of the excursion, the archivists showed several videos on the YouTube channel of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents dedicated to school life.

The excursion to the archive was not only educational, but also inspiring. The young participants left the event with new knowledge and skills, as well as an understanding of the importance of preserving historical documents.
