On the participation of employees of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus in the event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Khatyn

On March 22, 2025, employees of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NARB) as part of a delegation from the archival industry took part in memorial events dedicated to the Khatyn tragedy. Archive employees laid flowers and took part in the rally.

For reference: On March 22, 1943, fascist punitive forces burned the Belarusian village of Khatyn and its civilians – 149 people, 75 of whom were children. Police officers of the 118th Ukrainian Schutzmannschaft Battalion and a unit of the SS Dirlewanger special team took part in the destruction of the village. In the Republic of Belarus in 2024…2025, two trials were held against servicemen of the 118th battalion – V.Katryuk and K.Smovsky.

NARB stores documents on the destruction of Khatyn and actively introduces them into scientific circulation. 13 collections of documents on the tragedy of Belarusian villages destroyed by the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War have already been published.

On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Khatyn, NARB prepared a virtual exhibition of documents «Khatyn. We remember and will not forget …», which can be viewed at the link.
