«Archives for School»: excursion for students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.42 of Mogilev»

On March 19, 2025, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, an excursion was held at the «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» for 4th-grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.42 of Mogilev». During the event, the children visited the new archive building.

The excursion began with a visit to the archive storage facility, which has a modern fire protection system, climate control equipment to maintain certain storage conditions, a supply and exhaust unit with dehumidification, humidification and air purification functions, as well as special mobile shelving that protects documents from dust and light. Then the students visited the document digitization laboratory, where they learned about the document scanning process.

The event ended in the archive assembly hall with a talk on the topic of «The Defense of Mogilev during the Great Patriotic War» and a screening of the documentary film «Operation Bagration», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (BSACFPD). The children were genuinely interested in the courageous work of Soviet cameramen during the war years.

The excursion became an interesting and educational event for schoolchildren, contributing to the popularization of archival work among young people.
