Exhibition project dedicated to the day of adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, in the Museum of Modern Belarusian Statehood
On March 10, 2025, an exhibition project dedicated to the day of adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus opened in the Museum of Modern Belarusian Statehood, a branch of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus.
The Constitution is the basic law of the state. The main principles enshrined in the Constitution of our state include: the rule of law; guarantee and observance of human and civil rights; democratic procedure for the formation of government bodies. The Constitution embodies the historical experience of the formation of the legal system and the establishment of Belarusian statehood. It is based on the inalienable sovereign right of the Belarusian people to independently determine their destiny and be a full-fledged subject of the world community.
On February 27, 2022, a republican referendum was held in our country on the issue of amending and supplementing the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. 82.86% of citizens voted in favor of the decision on the issue put to the referendum, that is, the majority of citizens included in the voting lists.
The exhibition project dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus reflects the chronology of the formation of constitutional foundations in Belarus, tells about the course of preparation and adoption of the Constitution of 1994, amendments and additions to it in connection with the rapidly changing political, socio-economic and cultural realities.
The National Archives of the Republic of Belarus presented at the exhibition: copies of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus of different years; the Law of the Republic of Belarus of March 15, 1994 «On the procedure for the entry into force of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus»; minutes of the meeting of the working group of the Constitutional Commission of the Supreme Council of the BSSR; Resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus «On holding a republican referendum in the Republic of Belarus and measures to ensure it»; minutes of the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus for elections and holding republican referendums and other documents.
