The National Historical Archives of Belarus in Grodno celebrated its 85th anniversary

On February 11, 2025, a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the archive’s establishment was held at the state institution «National Historical Archives of Belarus in Grodno».

The director of the archive, A.B.Venskovich, addressed those present with a congratulatory speech, telling about the history of the formation of the archival institution and its main activities, expressed words of gratitude to the staff and veterans of the archival service and wished well-being and creative success.

The following guests of honor arrived to congratulate the institution on its anniversary: Yulia Vladimirovna Baidanova, Head of the Department for the Use of Documents, Ideological Work and International Cooperation of the Department of Archives and Records Management, Mikhail Mikhailovich Glushakov, Director of the National Historical Archives of Belarus, Elena Ivanovna Yurgel, Head of the Justice Department of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Alina Yuzefovna Zabolotnaya, Head of the Department for Records Management, Archives, Including the Civil Registry Office of the Main Justice Department of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Sergei Iosifovich Miklashevich, Director of the State Archives of the Grodno Region, Lyudmila Nikolaevna Gorbach, the State Archives of Public Associations of the Grodno Region, Svetlana Gennadyevna Svirko and Alla Stepanovna Zabelinskaya, Directors of Zonal State Archives of Lida and Novogrudok, representatives of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno: Associate Professor and Head of the Department of History of Belarus, Archeology and Special Historical Disciplines Sergei Vladimirovich Omelko and Associate Professor experimental and applied psychology Kolyshko Alexander Maryanovich.

Undoubtedly, among the guests of honor were the keepers of history, devoted to archival work – the highly respected veteran archivists: Batrakova Karina Petrovna (director from 1986 to 2003), Afanasyeva Tatyana Yuryevna (director from 2003 to 2024), Yurchenko Tamara Nikitichna, Chushel Anna Mikhailovna, Bekish Nila Vladimirovna, Verbitskaya Antonina Stepanovna, Goryacheva Roza Fuatovna, Slavinskaya Galina Mechislavovna, Ryabukhina Irina Bronislavovna and Yaskevich Teresa Mechislavovna.

The festive event took place in a warm atmosphere. The guests congratulated the team on the anniversary date and presented memorable gifts. The archive staff were awarded Letters of Gratitude and Certificates of Honor for their conscientious work, exemplary performance of professional duties, and in connection with the 85th anniversary of the institution.
