Participation of the National Information Agency of Belarus in the documentary exhibition «Formation and Development of the Profession of a Bailiff in the Belarusian Lands»

On February 7, 2025, the NIA of Belarus, as part of the educational and methodological gathering and meeting of employees of the enforcement agencies of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, took part in the documentary exhibition «Formation and Development of the Profession of a Bailiff in the Belarusian Lands». The event took place at the National Center for Legal Information (Minsk, Bersona St., 1a).

Deputy Director of the National Information Agency of Belarus Sergei Ryndin presented to the participants and guests of the event documents from the 16th – early 20th centuries, which reflect the development of the profession of a bailiff in the Belarusian lands. During the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, bailiffs were called carters. The earliest document at the exhibition dates back to 1559. This is a certificate in Old Belarusian about the delivery to the steward of the Trotsky mayor Andrei Nepretsky of a note about his eviction from the Deshovshchizna courtyard of the Dubnitsa estate. During the Russian Empire, the functions of bailiffs were carried out by the police chiefs of the lower zemstvo courts, mayors, and bailiffs. The exhibition displays the texts of the «oath promises» of bailiffs, form lists, legislative acts, service certificates, a sample seal of a bailiff of the early 20th century, and a number of other documents.

The exhibition materials were examined by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus Evgeny Kovalenko, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Kot, employees of the territorial bodies of compulsory execution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, and correspondents of the First Information TV channel.
