The State Archives of the Vitebsk Region was recognized as the winner in the nomination «Best Regional State Archive» for 2024

At an extended meeting of the board of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, the institution «State Archives of the Vitebsk Region» was awarded a diploma and a traveling badge on recognizing the archive as the winner for 2024 in the nomination «Best Regional State Archive».

In 2024, the archive accepted 13,633 management documentation cases from organizations – sources of acquisition on paper for permanent storage, of which 4,931 cases for 1954 – 2016 were received by the state archive in connection with the liquidation of the debt on the transfer of documents and due to the commissioning of the facility «Reconstruction of the building of ATS 24 on Frunze Ave., 90A in Vitebsk for an archive». The opening took place on July 1 of this year. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus E.I.Kovalenko, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee A.M.Subbotin, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov.

In total, 2,595 files were digitized in 2024, 213,696 electronic pages were created, 49,016 storage units were issued from archival storage facilities, 26,335 sheets underwent restoration processing, and 48,988 sheets of archival documents were repaired.

In the direction of work on the use of documents in 2024, the archive received a letter of gratitude from the Department of Humanities and Arts of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

In total, 46 articles and interviews were published in the media and scientific publications in 2024. Archive employees took part in 26 scientific conferences, readings, and round tables with 50 presentations. 88 cultural and educational events were held. Within the framework of the campaign «Archives – to school» 65 events were held.

An important area of educational work during the information events was the demonstration of documentaries created by the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents», including the implementation of the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could». A total of 42 film lectures were organized. The total number of participants in the film lectures was 1,979 people.

Work on our use of archival documents and popularization of the history of Belarus is carried out not only within the republic. In September – October 2024, Deputy Director of the archive T.V.Buevich took part in the celebratory events of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk (Russian Federation), dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the archival service of the district. During the trip, «Archives – to school» events were held: meetings were held with students of the Yugra University and students of secondary schools of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk with a demonstration of newsreels of the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could».

Also, within the framework of international cooperation based on the results of the international historical and archival teleconference «There is an ancient city on the Dvina», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Vitebsk region from the Nazi invaders and held on June 28, 2024 between Vitebsk and Volgograd, a joint international publication of the teleconference materials was carried out.
