Conducting an event within the framework of the «Archives for School» campaign and a single memory lesson «Ola – Khatyn’s sister» for students of the State Educational Institution «Gymnasium No.1 of Dzerzhinsk»
On January 15, 2025, Deputy Head of the Department for the Use of Documents and Information M.V.Garelik held a lecture lesson and a film lecture for 11th-grade students of the legal specialization «Young Prosecutor» of the State Educational Institution «Gymnasium No.1 of Dzerzhinsk».
The students learned about the main areas of activity of the BGAKFFD and the enormous work carried out by the archive to popularize archival documents, including materials on war crimes committed in the occupied territory of Belarus in 1941-1944. Particular attention was paid to the tragic fate of Belarusian villages, using the example of the villages of Ola and Khatyn, which were discussed separately during the lesson. The students were shown photographs from the collections of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents about the burning of Belarusian villages, the functioning of ghettos, concentration camps, and other examples of the crimes of the Hitler regime.
The lecture lesson was accompanied by the demonstration of fragments of the films «Crimes Committed by the Germans on the Territories of the Belarusian SSR During the Fifth Occupation» (1945), «The People’s Trial» (1946), «The Graves Are Not Silent» (1963), «Beyond the Line» (1968), «A Minute of Silence» (1969).
