The holidays are over, but the emotions remain: specialists from the ZGA in Molodechno introduced students from city schools to archival work
The winter holidays have come to an end, but the memories of the bright moments will remain for a long time. One of the memorable events for the campers of schools No.12 and No.8 was an excursion to the Zonal State Archives of Molodechno as part of the «Archives for School» campaign.
Upon arrival at the archive, the children were met by a friendly team of employees who conducted a fascinating excursion. The schoolchildren learned about the importance of archives as keepers of historical memory, how documents are processed and what valuable materials are in the institution. The attention of the students was also focused on old newspapers and photographs, which allowed them to look into the past and see how the appearance of the city and the lives of people changed; they gained knowledge about the events that shaped the history of the country. In particular, the children were shown the release of the media project «Archive Bulletin» about the approval of the coat of arms and flag of the city of MolodechNo.A participant of those events, Nikolai Stepanovich Mintz, was invited to speak to the young audience as a guest. It was he who was entrusted with a number of tasks in the late 90s: developing a concept for heraldry, identifying artists, preparing the necessary documentation, etc. Now the former representative of the district executive committee works as the head of military-patriotic education.
The schoolchildren actively asked questions to the guest and archivists, shared their impressions. Many of them noted that they now better understand the importance of preserving historical memory. The event inspired the children to further study the events of the past and participate in research projects.
At the end of the excursion, the children expressed gratitude to the archive staff for the exciting program and the opportunity to touch the documentary heritage.
