The Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus and the heads of the republican archival institutions visited the Smolevichi Social and Pedagogical Center

On December 27, 2024, as part of the New Year’s charity event «Our Children», the Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov, together with the Director of the Belarusian Research Institute of Document Science and Archival Affairs A.E.Rybakov and the Director of the Central Laboratory for Ensuring the Preservation of Documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus V.L.Klyuiko, visited the state educational institution «Smolevichi Social and Pedagogical Center».

Participation in the charity event is a good tradition for the leadership of the Department and state archival institutions; such meetings with the children of the Smolevichi Social and Pedagogical Center are held annually. This Center provides social, pedagogical, psychological and other types of assistance to children who find themselves in extreme life situations. Today, the Center is home to minors who have prepared a bright holiday program for their guests dedicated to the upcoming New Year 2025.

The Director of the Department congratulated the children and the teaching staff of the Center with all his heart on the upcoming holidays, wished them good health, fulfillment of all their cherished desires, interesting discoveries, joy, so that each of them could feel the magic of the holiday.

Representatives of the Department and state archival institutions, as well as other sponsoring organizations, presented the children with gifts, including sets of sweets. As a sponsorship, the archivists donated a multifunctional device to the Center, and books from the children’s series «Partisan Archive» to the library of the social and pedagogical institution.

As part of a business trip to the Smolevichi District, the Director of the Department visited the state institution «Smolevichi District Archive». The archive stores 10,065 files in 560 funds. In just 11 months of 2024, the archive employees fulfilled more than 420 requests of a social and legal nature.

O.L.Voinov got acquainted with the conditions for storing documents in the archive. During the conversation with the director of the archive N.P.Masyukevich, issues of working conditions for archive employees and their social security were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the need to organize work in 2025 on the examination of the value of documents stored in the archive, the selection of the most valuable documents for transfer to the state archive of the Minsk region, and the selection of documents with expired storage periods for destruction.
