Polotsk archivists attended the presentation of the new book «Polotsk Golgotha»

Polotsk archivists attended the presentation of the new book «Polotsk Golgotha», dedicated to the dramatic pages of the history of the city of Polotsk during the Nazi occupation.

The author of the book, Sergei Petrovich Kopyl, spoke about numerous facts of genocide, as a result of which only about 400 residents remained in the city, whose pre-war population was more than 31 thousand people.

The book was the result of many years of research, study of archival data, it also included unique memories of witnesses of the events of that time, numerous photographs depicting Polotsk during the Great Patriotic War, including those acquired by the author at auctions.

The book is intended for everyone interested in the history of Belarus, the topic of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.
