On the organization of the exhibition display dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Brest Region
The State Archives of the Brest Region organized a permanent documentary exhibition display in the Brest Regional Executive Committee dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Brest Region, which was celebrated on December 4.
A separate room was allocated in the building of the Regional Executive Committee for these purposes. About 200 archival documents, photographs, newspaper articles reflecting the main stages of the development of the Brest Region and significant events in its history are presented on 23 display cases.
The basis of the exhibition is made up of materials from the funds of the State Archives of the Brest Region. In addition, the exhibition includes documents and materials from the zonal state archives of the region (in the cities of Baranovichi, Pinsk, Kobrin), the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, the Memorial Complex «Brest Hero Fortress», as well as the State Archives of the Russian Federation.
The Brest Regional Museum of Local History and the M.Gorky Regional Library provided several museum items and books, respectively, for the exhibition.
The documents are presented in chronological order, starting from September 1939 to the present day. Each display case is dedicated to a certain period in the history of the region (September 1939 – June 1941, the period of the Nazi occupation, the genocide of the civilian population of the Brest region during the war, the resumption of peaceful life in 1944-1949, the development of the region in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, in 1980-1991, during the period of the sovereign Republic of Belarus since 1991).
The documents presented in the exhibition reflect the state of the economy, education, healthcare, culture, contain information on administrative-territorial changes, on the commissioning of industrial enterprises, on the opening of educational institutions, cultural institutions, on the development of transport communications, on the population of the region in different years and much more.
Among the first visitors to the exhibition are journalists who took part in the press conference of the head of the region Petr Parkhomchik on December 2, 2024.
On December 3, 2024, the grand opening of the exhibition took place with the participation of the leadership of the region and the city: Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Petr Parkhomchik, deputy chairmen of the regional executive committee, Chairman of the Brest City Executive Committee Sergei Lobodinsky and others.
