Exhibition project «Century of Belarusian Cinema» in Vitebsk

On November 29, 2024, the republican social and cultural event «Marathon of Unity» was held in Vitebsk. As part of this event, the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, together with the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus and the National Film Studio «Belarusfilm», prepared the exhibition project «Century of Belarusian Cinema».

Belarusian cinema is a significant layer of Belarusian culture, which includes the best artistic works of the past in the modern social context and popularizes the latest achievements of domestic filmmakers. Belarusian cinema today occupies an honorable place among other forms of art. A significant number of films have been created that have received well-deserved recognition at the national and international levels.

The exhibition, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema, reveals the theme of the origin, features of the development of national cinema in the context of various historical stages of our country, and also reflects the processes and dynamics of the development of domestic cinema at the present stage. The exhibition presents items from the exposition of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus, unique documents from the collections of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, posters, costumes, and props for iconic films. Particular attention is paid to films that have deservedly entered the golden collection of Russian and world cinema. The exhibition project displays exhibits related to such cult films as «Forest Tale», «Red Leaves», «Girl Seeks Father», «The Adventures of Buratino», «White Dews», «The Wild Hunt of King Stakh».

The history of the modern development of Belarusian cinema is also presented by a set of materials from the latest films of the National Film Studio «Belarusfilm».
