BGAMLI took part in the presentation of the joint edition of «Sonata No. 3 for Piano» by Lev Abelovich
On October 31, 2024, employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art took part in the presentation of the joint edition with the Kovcheg publishing house of «Sonata No. 3 for Piano» by Lev Abelovich, prepared for publication by Andrei Kiranov based on the musical manuscript stored in the archive-museum. The presentation took place as part of a large concert for teachers of music institutions of the city at the 10th Music School of Minsk.
Lev Moiseevich Abelovich (1912-1985) is a classic of Belarusian music of the 20th century, Honored Artist of the BSSR, member of the Union of Composers of the USSR. Born in Vilnius, entered the Warsaw Conservatory (piano class). In 1939, while on vacation in Vilnius, he learned about the occupation of Poland and decided to continue his studies at the Minsk Conservatory. During the war, he was evacuated to Gorky. After the war, he returned to Minsk and devoted himself entirely to composing music. Lev Abelovich’s creative legacy includes 4 symphonies, overtures and other pieces for orchestra; a piano concerto with orchestra; chamber instrumental music, etc.
