On the working visit of the Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management O.L.Voinov to the state archival institutions of Grodno

On September 25, 2024, the Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov made a working visit to Grodno.

The working meeting was attended by the First Deputy Head of the Main Department of Justice of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Yuzhik A.V., the Head of the Department for Archives, Civil Registry Offices and Other Legal Issues of the Main Department of Justice of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Zabolotnaya A.Yu., Deputy Head of the Department of Records Management, Formation and Preservation of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus of the Department Kochetkova A.V.

O.L.Voinov visited the building being reconstructed for the State Archive of Public Associations of the Grodno Region at 11/14 Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, where he got acquainted in detail with the work performed, listened to representatives of engineering and contracting organizations about the activities performed and the deadlines for the delivery of the facility. The Director of the Department pointed out the need for unconditional development of funds, prompt resolution of emerging issues and ensuring the contractor’s speed of completion of finishing work while maintaining quality. Director of the Archive of Public Associations of the Grodno Region L.N.Gorbach spoke about plans for moving, filling of archive storage facilities and placement of employees. As a result of the visit, plans were outlined for opening the archive in 2025.

During the business trip, the institution «State Archive of the Grodno Region» and the State Institution «National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno» were also visited. During the meeting with the work collectives, the Director of the Department heard reports from the archive managers, visited the archive storage facilities and work premises, and familiarized himself with the working conditions of the archivists. O.L. Voinov noted the importance of attracting young specialists to the archives, including through targeted recruitment to higher education institutions. The archivists were given tasks for the near future and for the long term. The Director of the Department gave a generally positive assessment of the work of the archivists of the Grodno region.
