Participation of BGAML in the meeting of the Commission under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus for the identification, return, joint use and introduction into scientific circulation of cultural values located outside the Republic of Belarus

On September 24, 2024, a meeting of the Commission under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus for the identification, return, joint use and introduction into scientific and cultural circulation of cultural values located outside the Republic of Belarus was held.

As part of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture S.A. Sarkach and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yu.G. Ambrazevich made reports on the results of the Commission’s work in the first half of 2024. Director of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus A.V. Khramoy spoke about the work on compiling a list of cultural values lost during the Great Patriotic War and developing a methodology for their assessment; First Deputy Director General for Scientific, International and Educational Work V.A. Kuzmina spoke about the activities of the National Art Archives of the Republic of Belarus on the return of cultural values from abroad.

Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus A.E. Tsvetkov reported on the progress of the archival industry in organizing the collection of information, including archival documents, information, data, eyewitness accounts, book publications and media articles on the topic of World War II.

E.A. Makarenko made a report «The work of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art on the return of cultural values in 2023 – the first half of 2024», in which she spoke about the contribution of the BGAMLI to the identification, return and introduction into scientific circulation of documents on the history of literature and culture of Belarus from abroad.
