A delegation of Belarusian archivists took part in festive events dedicated to National Unity Day in Moscow

On September 18, 2024, a ceremonial event dedicated to National Unity Day was held in the Business Cultural Complex at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Moscow. The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation A.N. Rogozhnik, State Secretary of the Union State D.F.Mezentsev, deputies of the State Duma, members of the Federation Council, representatives of state authorities of the Russian Federation, the diplomatic corps of foreign states, the Belarusian diaspora and others.

An active part in the celebration was taken by a delegation of Belarusian archivists: First Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.A.Ledovskaya, Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NARB) A.K.Demyanyuk, Director of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD) A.N.Gonchar, Leading Archivist of the NARB, PhD in History, Associate Professor V.P.Garmatny and Chief Engineer of the NARB V.A.Baranov.

Ledovskaya O.A. congratulated the participants of the event on the Day of National Unity and the 85th anniversary of the reunification of Western Belarus with the BSSR. She briefly discussed the composition of the documents of the National Archival Fund on this topic and also spoke about the main areas of their use. Ledovskaya O.A. presented the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation A.N. Rogozhnik with publications prepared by NARB: «The Supreme Council of the BSSR of the first convocation (1938–1947)», a collection of documents «Saint Petersburg and Western Belarus: divided, but adapted: 1921–1939: documents and materials» and books from the «Partisan Archive» series.

NARB Director A.K.Demyanyuk presented the participants of the event with a documentary exhibition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the reunification of Western Belarus with the BSSR, as well as a tablet exhibition «The History of Belarusian Parliamentarism and the Institute of the Presidency».

BAAF Director A.N.Gonchar spoke about the «Open Film Archive» project and presented the participants with the documentary film «Reunification». Famous artists and actors Yu.M.Antonov and N.P.Burlyaev, as well as pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation O.V.Novitsky took part in the festive event.
