BGAMLI about front-line cameramen and film directors for the Belarus 3 TV channel on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders
On June 13, 2024, as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, the director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko took part in the filming of the Belarus 3 TV channel of the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus one of a series of documentary films about front-line cameramen, directors, journalists and photographers who participated in the liberation of Belarus and Europe.
In his interview with E.A.Makarenko spoke about a unique document stored in BGAMLI – a working version of the narration text written by Nikolai Sadkovich in February-March 1945 for the full-length epic film «Liberation of Soviet Belarus». This film was the first attempt to historically comprehend and artistically interpret the film chronicle of the strategic operation «Bagration». Filmmaker and writer Nikolai Sadkovich, together with Belarusian film director Vladimir Korsh-Sablin, reviewed kilometers of front-line and partisan film, shot by more than 40 cameramen during the liberation of Belarus. This document, covered with edits and notes by N.Sadkovich, allows us to understand how difficult the process of selecting and editing materials was, and in what direction the author’s concept of this film, significant for our country, evolved. In addition, E.A.Makarenko spoke about the replenishment of the BGAMLI funds with documents from the family archive of the Belarusian front-line operator Yulian Dovner, handed over by his daughter, Lyudmila Yulianovna Dovner-Malitskaya.
