Excursion for students of the State Educational Institution «Semukach Secondary School»

The institution «State Archive of the Mogilev Region» was visited on an excursion by students of the State Educational Institution «Semukach Secondary School». The event was held as part of the «Archives for School» campaign.

In the reading room of the archive, the children got acquainted with the history of the archive; activities that archivists engage in. For schoolchildren, a museum exhibition of equipment used by archivists was presented, as well as an exhibition of archival documents.

The head of the department for the scientific use of documents and information, Olga Trotskaya, introduced the children to documents from the archives relating to the Second World War. Among them are the verification and filtration cases of ostarbeiters – Soviet citizens who were forcibly deported to forced labor in Germany during the war.

Also for those gathered, the film «Liberation» was shown, prepared by employees of the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents» (Dzerzhinsk) as part of the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could,» dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

Then the guys, on a sightseeing tour, visited the archives, where they got acquainted with the composition of the stored documents, the conditions and regime of their storage.
