The literary and patriotic marathon «Forever in the memory of the people» with the participation of the institution «Zonal State Archives in Novogrudok» has ended
On May 27, 2024, the literary and patriotic marathon «Forever in the People’s Memory» ended, organized by the Novogrudok regional library with the participation of the institution «Zonal State Archives in Novogrudok» and held in three stages.
College students in Novogrudok got acquainted with the new books presented at the exhibition «Chronicle of the Victory. 80th anniversary of liberation», individual facts from the military history of settlements that became examples of military feats, popular resistance and were awarded the pennant «For courage and steadfastness during the Great Patriotic War», of which there are currently 36.
The documentary exhibition «We Stood and Won», prepared by employees of the state archives, which presented three sets of documents, also aroused interest. The first block is dedicated to the initial period of the war – the tragic events of the «Novogrudok cauldron», when 11 divisions of the armies of the Western Front were surrounded. The second set of documents talks about the occupation of Novogrudok and the genocide of civilians. And the documentary exhibition ends with documents from the liberation period of Novogrudok.
At the end of the meeting, the students were shown a newsreel film «Liberation of the city of Grodno», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents.
