Scientific and practical conference «Working with funds of personal origin: Belarusian and Russian experience»

On May 24, 2024, in pursuance of the Action Plan for the implementation of the agreement between the Government of the Penza Region of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation for 2023-2025, the Scientific and Practical Conference «Working with funds of personal origin: Belarusian» was held and Russian experience».

The Minister of Archives of the Penza Region Z.Kh.Bibarsov, Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus A.E.Tsvetkov and the Acting Head of the State Archive Service of the Samara Region addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. In his speech, A.E. Tsvetkov emphasized the importance of preserving historical truth and memory of the Great Patriotic War. «Each archive contains funds of personal origin of direct participants in the war, telling about the heroic past and terrible tragedies of wartime. In 2024, Belarus celebrates the 80th anniversary of its liberation from the Nazi invaders. Documents of personal origin are woven into the overall fabric of archival materials used in numerous exhibitions dedicated to historical events and important state dates, helping to more clearly present the events of different historical eras. In working with schoolchildren and young people within the framework of the republican action «Archives for School», the use of documents and museum objects from personal collections makes it possible to captivate children and awaken in them the desire to study the history of their own family, clan, their native area, and then the country as a whole «- noted Alexey Evgenievich.

Representatives of 22 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and Belarusian archivists took part in the conference.

From the Belarusian side, the conference featured reports from the director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art E.A.Makarenko «The experience of BGAMLI with funds of personal origin» and the head of the department of funds of personal origin of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus I.V.Dorogush «On the activities of the funds department personal origin NARB. Problems and prospects». Other employees of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus were also present at the conference.

The conference was constructive, archivists of the two countries asked questions and received comprehensive answers to them, exchanged experience in collecting, storing and using documents of personal origin.
