Family Day in the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus
On May 15, our country celebrates International Family Day. Family is the most important thing in life for each of us. Family is close and dear people, those to whom we wish goodness and happiness, whom we love, whom we take as an example, whom we care about. It is in the family that we learn love, care and respect, responsibility.
On May 15, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus opened a small exhibition dedicated to women liberators.
The exhibition features photographs and exhibits from the family collections of the National Archives staff. The history of many of the exhibits is unique: these are medals and orders that are kept with trepidation in the families of the defenders of the Fatherland, many family photographs, order books, certificates, personal sheets for recording personnel for partisans.
The history of employees’ families reflects not only family history, but also the history of our country as a whole. Some ancestors served in the Red Army, others fought in the partisans, some of them died or went missing, and some lived to an old age.
The exhibition once again shows that the archives employ people who know how to preserve historical memory, honor family traditions, know the true value of archival documents and treat them very carefully.
