Memorial evening with the opening of the documentary exhibition «Dumka. Covering the soul. Pachuzzo..». in BGAMLI

On April 22, 2024, a memorial evening was held at the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art with the opening of the documentary exhibition «Dumka. Covering the soul. Pachuzzo…», dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the actor, People’s Artist of Belarus Yuri Fedorovich Stupakov (03/24/1934 – 10/24/1999).

BGAMLI Director Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko addressed those present with a welcoming speech.

During the event, the curator of the exhibition, leading archivist N.A.Mizon, spoke about the documents presented at the exhibition that shed light on the artist’s path: from a stage worker to the high title of People’s Artist. The autographs of Yuri Fedorovich himself on the texts of the roles were commented on – emotional, personal, revealing the strong character and individuality of the artist. The photographs of the dramatic and comedic images of Yu.F.Stupakov presented at the exhibition surprised the audience with the rich palette of characters he played. Documents from archival funds showed the audience the intense touring life of Yuri Fedorovich as part of the troupe of one of the leading theaters in the country – the National Academic Drama Theater named after M.Gorky. According to archival documentary evidence, the people’s artist appeared to the event participants as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, poetry reader, film actor and amateur fisherman.

A strong impression was left behind by the bright performance of Yuri Fedorovich’s colleague in the theater – Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, actor Andrei Andreevich Dushechkin. He spoke frankly about his collaboration with Yuri Fedorovich in many performances, Stupakov’s natural talent, his charm and sincerity in communicating with others. In the story, Andrei Andreevich even conveyed, in an actor’s way, the manner of speaking that his colleague had. Interesting stories from theatrical life brought those present closer to understanding the complex and eventful fate of the artist Yuri Fedorovich Stupakov.

Among the guests of the memorial evening are honorary archivist A.V.Zapartyko and former head of the department of scientific description of personal funds V.E.Danekina. Colleagues personally knew many of the artists and worked to replenish their funds. The event was attended by D.A.Stanyuta, the grandson of the famous actress, as well as 8th grade students from Gymnasium No.40 and Secondary School No.142 in Minsk.
