Republican subbotnik in archival institutions

Cleanup work is a good tradition, which will celebrate its 105th anniversary in 2024!

On April 20, 2024, employees of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, republican archival institutions and the editorial office of the magazine «Archives and Records Management» actively worked on the republican cleanup day.

As part of the cleanup work, work was carried out not only to restore order in workplaces and archives, but also at other facilities.

Employees of the National Historical Archive of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents, the National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno, and the Central Laboratory for the Preservation of Documents completed a significant amount of work to improve the territory adjacent to the archival institutions. The archivists carried out work to bring the lawns into exemplary condition, remove the remains of last year’s foliage, trim the trees and shrubs, improve the flower beds with already blooming spring flowers, and paint the fences.

Workers of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus were cleaning up Tikotskogo Street in the Pervomaisky district of the capital. Those working outdoors are provided with food and hot drinks.

Representatives of the Department of Archives and Records Management also worked together with archivists in the republican archival institutions.

Archivists paid tribute to the memory of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, archival industry workers, and cultural figures of Belarus.

Workers of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus visited the burial site, restored order and laid flowers at the grave of A. M. Karpachev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, director of the Central State Archive of the October Revolution and Socialist Construction of the BSSR at the Eastern Cemetery.

Employees of the National Historical Archive in Grodno visited the burial site at the cemetery on the street. Cosmonauts in Grodno Alexey Sergeevich Katkov, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, director of the Central Historical Archive.

Workers of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art visited burial places at the Eastern Cemetery, landscaped the graves, laid flowers and paid tribute to the memory of cultural figures of Belarus – founders of the archive-museum: writers Ivan Melezh, Mikhail Lynkov, Vladimir Korotkevich, composers Nikolai and Alena Aladov, Evgeniy and Rodion Glebovs, artists Vera Polla and Stefania Staniuta.

All work on the republican cleanup was carried out in compliance with labor protection and fire safety rules. In order to ensure safe working conditions during the cleanup, workers were given instructions on labor protection.

All participants in the republican cleanup are provided with the necessary equipment, household supplies and personal protective equipment.

Before the start of work, rallies were held on site. Patriotic-themed musical accompaniment is provided at work sites.

In total, 332 representatives from the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, republican archival institutions and the editorial board of the magazine «Archives and Records Management» took part in the events of the republican cleanup. The archivists also collected funds that were transferred to the appropriate accounts of the republican subbotnik.

Participation in the republican cleanup undoubtedly helps to unite and develop favorable relationships in work collectives. But, most importantly, working together during today’s cleanup contributed to the development of a sense of patriotism and responsibility for one’s country.
