Republican action «Archives to School», pilot project «Young Archivist» and educational project «Lesson in the Museum» in BSAMLA

On April 12, 2024, within the framework of the Republican action «Archives to School», the pilot project «Young Archivist» and the educational project «Lesson in the Museum» by employees of the institution «Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art» (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLA) together with the teacher of the State Educational Institution « Secondary school No. 183 in Minsk» held a lesson in Belarusian literature for 21 students of grade 5 «A».

The head of the department of information, publication and use of documents of BSAMLA, Veronika Petrovna Skok, introduced the children to one of the leading republican state institutions of Belarus – the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, focusing on BSAMLA as the most important source of the cultural history of Belarus. The guys were amazed by the wide range of documents stored in the archive related to the history of the formation and development of Belarusian literature, fine and performing arts, musical life, and national cinema.

As part of the additional reading lesson, the biography and works of the famous Belarusian poet Arkady Kuleshov were considered. The teacher of Belarusian literature, Margarita Evgenievna Yazalieva, introduced the children to a brief biography and literary work of the poet. And the 5th grade students enthusiastically read and recited the works of Arkady Kuleshov.

Leading researcher Kenko Mikhail Pavlovich spoke about the significant events in the history of the country, which the sensitive soul of the poet experienced, on the basis of the demonstrated literary and documentary exhibition «Perad to yourself and the world of the great gods…», dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the people’s poet of Belarus Arkady Kuleshov and the 80th anniversary of liberation Belarus from the German invaders, exhibited in BSAMLA.

The children and adults concluded the Belarusian literature lesson with a discussion of A. Kuleshov’s lines, which gave the name to the exhibition: «Be true to yourself and the world…», concluding that honesty is one of the most important characteristics of a person. It determines our ability to admit our mistakes, to be open and sincere with the world around us and with ourselves. In order to live a full life, you need to learn to be honest, first of all, with yourself.
