On conducting lectures and excursions for students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 4 of Brest» in the State Archive of the Brest Region

From April 1 to April 5, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, the State Archive of the Brest Region was visited by 5 groups of students in grades 9-11 of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 4 of Brest».

Employees of the department for the use and publication of documents told students about the development of the archival industry, the history and composition of documents from the state archive of the Brest region. They familiarized themselves in more detail with documents on the history of the Great Patriotic War, and also showed videos «We brought this day closer as best we could,» prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents.

During an introductory tour of the archive, students visited the archive storage facility, a laboratory for the repair and restoration of archival documents.

At the end, the students were given a quiz «Archive – a repository of documentary memory», during which the children showed how well they knew archival work.
