On the International Day of the Liberation of Prisoners of Fascist Concentration Camps, a historical memory lesson «Remember…» was held at the State Autonomous Okrug, with students of the state educational institution «Secondary School No. 3 of Gomel named after D.N. Penyazkova»

On the International Day of the Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps, within the framework of the republican action «Archives to School» and the pilot project «Young Archivist», employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» conducted a lesson in historical memory «Remember …» with students of the state educational institution «Secondary School No. 3 Gomel named after D.N. Penyazkova.»

During the event, schoolchildren were told about the camps that operated on the territory of Gomel and the Gomel region, and they dwelled in detail on the «Krasny Bereg» memorial complex, which was built on the site of a children’s donor concentration camp.

The children were presented with lists of released prisoners from the German Ozarichi camp stored in the archives and original documents containing the memories of General P.I. Batov, which describes the episode of the liberation of prisoners of the Ozarichi camp. In addition, archivists voiced the memories of former juvenile prisoners and eyewitness testimony.

At the end of the event, schoolchildren got acquainted with the exhibition of archival documents and photographs «War does not have a woman’s face» and took part in a sightseeing tour of the archive, during which they studied the main directions of the archive’s work.
