On the work to identify film documents related to events on the territory of Belarus during the Second World War in the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents

The head of the department for the formation of the National Archival Fund of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD) L.V.Dubatovka visited the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents (hereinafter referred to as RGACFD) in Krasnogorsk during a business trip, which took place on March 25-29, 2024. The business trip was planned as part of the implementation of the plan for preparing and holding events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

Previously, work was carried out to identify film documents on this topic in the collections of the Russian State Academy of Cinematography, using the electronic film catalog on the archive website; a total of 36 film documents were identified, and a list was prepared. Further work was continued in the reading room of film documents of the RGAKFD on the sound editing table. The film documents were viewed, their descriptions were checked against the editing sheets, the showing time was recorded, as well as the content of the film documents. Attention was paid to film documents related to events on the territory of Belarus during the Second World War. Of greatest interest are the scenes from the Cinematic Record of the Great Patriotic War, filmed by front-line cameramen on the territory of Belarus. During the work, film documents of the Cinema Chronicle were viewed: «West of Mozyr» (1944), «City of Vitebsk» (1944), «Rechitsa» (1943), «City of Mogilev» (1944), «City of Bobruisk» (1944), «Capture of the City Pinsk» (1944) and others.

As part of the business trip, a working meeting was held with the participation of RGAKFD Deputy Director for Production and Technical Issues and Information Technologies S.V.Perekhodov, Deputy Director, Chief Custodian of Funds O.A.Belyakova, and heads of structural divisions. L.V.Dubatovka got acquainted with the experience of the Russian State Academy of Film and Documentary Arts on acquisition issues, new trends in the restoration of audiovisual documents.
