Memory lesson in the zonal state archive in Molodechno

On March 22, on the day of remembrance of the Khatyn tragedy and all the burned villages of Belarus, as part of the republican action «Archives for School», employees of the institution «Zonal State Archive in Molodechno» held a lesson-lecture for students in grades 9-10 of the Logos gymnasium in Vileika. They were told about the facts of genocide on Vileika land.

The head of the department for the use and publication of documents Elena Aleksandrovna Tomkovich made a presentation prepared based on documents and materials from the state archive. The attention of those present was offered to some copies of documents and terrifying photographs from the collection of digital copies as original documents of the Extraordinary State Commission to establish and investigate the atrocities of the Nazi invaders and their accomplices and the damage they caused to citizens, collective farms (kolkhozes), public organizations, government enterprises and institutions of the USSR (ChGK) in the Molodechno region, Vileyka, Volozhinsky, Ilyansky, Krivichi, Kurenetsky, Molodechno, Myadelsky, Radoshkovichsky districts of the Molodechno region and Disnensky district of the Polotsk region of the BSSR, transferred from the state archive of the Russian Federation. The material presented to the attention did not leave anyone indifferent – on the slides there are facts that excite the mind, forcing one to think about the tragic past.

The policy of genocide pursued by Nazi Germany against the population of Belarus and the Vileika region, in particular during the Second World War, became the largest and most brutal war crime in world history. The task of the archive is to preserve this page of history in the memory of peoples, nations, to convey to current and future generations all the harsh truth, so that in the future not a single people in the world will face this problem.
