30 years since the formation of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus

On March 14, 1994, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus adopted Resolution No. 145 «On improving the structure of government bodies of the Republic of Belarus and reducing the costs of their maintenance.» Based on the resolution, the network of republican government bodies was revised. In particular, the State Committee of the Republic of Belarus for Economics and Planning was transformed into the Ministry of Economy, and the State Committee of the Republic of Belarus for Ecology was transformed into the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. These ministries exist to this day without renaming or transformation; they regularly transfer documents generated in their activities to the State Institution «National Archive of the Republic of Belarus» (NARB).

The original of the resolution is stored in fund No. 7 «Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus» (NARB. F. 7. Op. 12. D. 998. Ll. 74-82). Currently, the department of information retrieval systems of NARB is conducting thematic development of resolutions and orders of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. Professionally organized and well-filled catalogs help archive workers to fulfill requests, identify documents during exhibitions and publish collections of documents, and researchers to write scientific papers. As of March 2024, more than 19 thousand catalog cards compiled as a result of the thematic development of resolutions and orders of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR and the Republic of Belarus for the years 1968–1993 have been entered into the electronic systematic and personalized catalogs of the «Scientific Reference Apparatus» software module of the AIS archive.
