Conducting a lesson for 8th grade students as part of the «Archives for School» event at the institution «State Archives of the Grodno Region»

On March 13, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, the institution «State Archive of the Grodno Region» held a lesson on the topic «The tragedy of the civilian population during the Great Patriotic War» for 8th grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.2 named after V.Yu.Sayapin in Grodno».

Archive staff told students about the genocide of the population of the Grodno region during the Nazi occupation. The schoolchildren were shown documentary materials illustrating the criminal activities of the occupation authorities: cards of prisoners of war who were in German camps, work certificates of citizens sent to work in Germany, certificates of ghetto prisoners, as well as documents of the Grodno regional commission for investigating and establishing the atrocities of the Nazi invaders and the damage they caused.

The lesson ended with a sightseeing tour of the archives, during which students were told about the conditions and features of storing documents in the archives.
