On March 11, 2024, the National Archives, together with the Museum of Modern Belarusian Statehood, a branch of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus, opened an exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus.

2022 was a landmark year for our country: on February 27, a republican referendum was held on the issue of introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. 82.86 percent of citizens voted for the decision on the issue put to the referendum, that is, the majority of citizens included in the voting lists.

The Constitution is the Basic Law of the state. The main principles that make up the norms of the Constitution include: the rule of law, guarantee and observance of human and civil rights, and the democratic order of formation of government bodies. The Constitution embodies the historical experience of the formation of Belarusian statehood. It is based on the inalienable sovereign right of the Belarusian people to independently determine their destiny and to be a full-fledged subject of the world community.

The exhibition project dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus reflects the chronology of the formation of constitutional foundations in Belarus, talks about the progress of the preparation and adoption of the 1994 Constitution, amendments and additions to it in connection with the rapidly changing political, socio-economic and cultural realities.

The National Archive provided for the exhibition: the Law of the Republic of Belarus of March 15, 1994 «On the procedure for the entry into force of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus», minutes of the meeting of the working group of the Constitutional Commission of the Supreme Council of the BSSR, the Resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus «On holding a republican referendum in the Republic of Belarus and measures to ensure it», protocols of the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus for elections and holding republican referendums and other documents.

The exhibition presents original copies of the Constitutions of the Republic of Belarus of different years, printed publications from the collection of the Presidential Library and materials from the collections of the National Historical Museum. The exhibition reveals in detail the main provisions of the current Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, its role and place in the system of government of the country.

Members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, representatives of public organizations and political parties of a patriotic orientation got acquainted with the exhibition.

In the future, the exhibition in the archive can be visited by historians, schoolchildren and students of educational institutions.
