On February 23, 2024, a solemn event dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus was held in the reading room of the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» (hereinafter referred to as the State Archives of the Gomel Region).

«By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated March 26, 1998 No. 157, the holiday celebrated on February 23 was named the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. Every year on this day we pay tribute to the courage of our compatriots who have shown valor and honor in defending their Motherland and express our gratitude to the defenders of the Fatherland who are currently performing military and civic duty – those who, at the cost of their lives, protect our well-being and the peaceful sky above our heads «, noted Andrey Petrovich.
Traditionally, on this holiday, the women’s team of the regional archive addressed all their male colleagues with warm words of congratulations and presented memorable gifts.
The trade union activist GAG joined the congratulations of the team, wishing the assembled men good health, inexhaustible energy, success in achieving their goals and new achievements.
Also, congratulations from the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, the Main Department of Justice of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, and public organizations (NGO BRSM, NGO Belaya Rus) of the Gomel Region were read to the staff of the regional archive on the day of remembrance of the courage and heroism of all generations of defenders of the Fatherland.
