A lesson in courage in the Zonal State Archive in Kobrin

On February 14, 2024, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, the Zonal State Archive in Kobrin was visited by cadets of the 6th grade of secondary school No. 4 in Kobrin.

On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers and the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of a limited contingent of Soviet troops from the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, archive specialists conducted a lesson in courage for the children, «Souls scorched by Afghanistan.»

The schoolchildren were shown the exhibition «We are faithful to the oath and the order was carried out…», which presented archival documents of the internationalist soldiers A.V. Melinchuk. and Astafieva N.K., included in the collection of documents of personal origin. The students were very interested in the memories of veterans about their service in Afghanistan, their order books and certificates for medals.

At the end of the meeting, a sightseeing tour of the archive was held, which included a brief excursion into the history of the formation of the archive, information about the main activities of the institution, and a visit to the archive depository.
