Opening of the literary and documentary exhibition «Let yourself and the world be right..». in BGAMLI

On February 7, 2024, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art hosted the opening of the literary and documentary exhibition «Let yourself and the world be right..», dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of the people’s poet of Belarus Arkady Kuleshov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from German invaders.

The event was attended by relatives (the poet’s grandson, folklorist Vladimir Berberov and the poet’s nephew Vitaly Maslovsky), researchers of A.Kuleshov’s work – Teresa Golub (candidate of philological sciences, laureate of the Maxim Goretsky literary prize, text critic, critic), Mikhail Kenka (candidate of philological sciences , leading researcher at the archive-museum of literature and art, literary critic, translator), Ivan Misko (sculptor, people’s artist of Belarus, author of the tombstone and memorial plaque for the hero of the day), and also as part of the republican action «Archives for School», the opening was visited by students from 8 «D» class of the State Educational Institution «Gymnasium No.40 named after Yanka Luchina, Minsk» and all interested.

The director of BGAMLI Elena Makarenko the poet’s nephew Vitaly Maslovsky, the poet’s grandson Vladimir Berberov, People’s Artist of Belarus Ivan Misko, candidates of philological sciences Teresa Golub and Mikhail Kenka made welcoming speeches. The curator of the exhibition and the host of the evening was the leading archivist of the archive-museum Natalya Mizon.

In a solemn ceremony, Vitaly Maslovsky transferred for permanent storage to BGAMLI original letters from Alexandra Korytkina, to whom Arkady Kuleshov dedicated his poem «Be By..»., to the poet’s mother and sister. These valuable documents will complement the collection of the hero of the day and in the future will be available to visitors to the reading room of the archive-museum.

The exhibition presents personal belongings of the national poet, photographs, manuscripts, letters and unpublished works; special attention is drawn to unique letters from the wartime, which preserved the emotions and thoughts of Kuleshov’s circle of friends and relatives.
