Documentary chronicle: «About the New Year tree»

Under the heading «Documentary Chronicle», the institution «State Archive of the Mogilev Region» presents for review a copy of the decision of the Mogilev City Executive Committee dated December 16, 1955 No.813 «On the New Year tree».

In the post-war years, Mogilev gradually returned to peaceful life. The work of enterprises was restored, housing was built, and urban infrastructure was improved. The celebration of the New Year also resumed – since the late 1940s, a citywide New Year tree began to be installed annually in December. The place for its installation was initially chosen to be the park named after. Lazarenko.
