About the event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders, organized on the basis of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region»

On November 23, 2023, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» held an event dedicated to the Day of the Liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders «They fought for Gomel» with 3rd grade students of the state educational institution «Secondary» school No.25 in Gomel named after B.A. Tsarikov».

On the eve of the Day of Liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders, a video was shown for schoolchildren about the liberation of Gomel, prepared by the state archive of film, photo and sound documents as part of the Open Film Archive project.

The children were given a sightseeing tour of the archive and its storage facilities, during which they learned what an archive is and what documents are stored in the archive. The guys visited the archives with great pleasure and interest and saw where and how the documents were stored.

At the end of the event, students got acquainted with the exhibition of archival documents and photographs «They defended Gomel in the first months of the Great Patriotic War».
