Round table on the topic of acquiring archival funds of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Belarus

On November 22, 2023, as part of the implementation of the Roadmap for the development of cooperation between archival institutions of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Tatarstan for 2023-2025, a round table was held in a video conference format on the topic of acquiring the archival funds of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Belarus.

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Archival Affairs Guzel Ildusovna Ildarhanova-Bakchikly and Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus Alexey Evgenievich Tsvetkov addressed the participants of the round table with a welcoming speech.

The archivists began the discussion with the topic of acquiring archives with management documentation and organizing the work of archives with acquisition sources. Presentations were made by: Deputy Director for the formation of the Archive Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan and acquisition of documents – Head of the Center for Primary Document Processing of the State Budgetary Institution «State Archives of the Republic of Tatarstan» R.R. Gilyazetdinova and the Head of the Department of Records Management and Formation of the National Archival Fund of the State Institution «National Archive of the Republic of Belarus» T.A.Shevchenko.

The peculiarities of replenishing the archival funds of Tatarstan and Belarus with documents of personal origin were reflected in the speeches of the head of the sector for initiated documentation and acquisition of documents of personal origin of the State Budgetary Institution «State Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan» R.R.Khusnutdinova and the director of the institution «Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art» E.A. Makarenko.

Discussing the issues of compiling archives with audiovisual documents, the director of the State Budgetary Institution «State Archives of the Republic of Tatarstan» S.N.Gorokhov presented a report «Legal and practical aspects of the formation of a legal deposit complex of audiovisual products as part of the national library and information fund of documents and the Archival fund of the Russian Federation», and the head of the department of formation of the National Archival Fund Institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Audio Documents» L.V.Dubatovka – «Acquisition of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus with audiovisual documents».

During the round table, archivists not only received a general idea of the organization of acquisition of national archival funds in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Belarus, but also discussed a number of problematic issues arising in their work related to the right of possession and ownership of documents, conducting an examination of the value of archival documents, introduction of information technologies and others.
