About the 2nd Skalabanov Readings

On October 16, 2023, the 2nd Skalabanov readings «Local history movement through the prism of archival sources» were held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (NARB). The event was co-organized by the Belarusian Society of Archivists.

Deputy Director of NARB E.A.Stukanova addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, Editor-in-chief of Krayaznachay Gazeta M.N.Galperovich, head of the ideological support department of the personnel policy and ideological support department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, chairman of the Belarusian Society of Archivists M.N.Skomoroschenko.

At the plenary session, three reports were heard: history teacher of the Vitebsk Cadet School, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor N.V.Pivovar («Budzce zdarovenki..»: V.Skalaban in my forest and local history of Belarus»), Professor of the Department of Ethnology, Museology and Art History of the Belarusian State University (BSU), Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A.A.Guzhalovsky («Hell of the Mother of God and Relics of Revaluation: Regionally Known Museums of the BSSR in the 1920s»), Professor of the Department of Source Studies of the Faculty of History of the BSU, Ph.D., Associate Professor M.F.Shumeiko («Local history and archives: the problem of relationships»).

During the work of the section, reports were presented by the deputy head of the information retrieval systems department of NARB V.Yu.Monzul («Regional and Garad party conferences of 1946-1953 as krynitsy in the world, microhistories and historical social sciences and problems of their information science»), leading archivist of the department of use of documents and information of the National Academy of Sciences R.B., Ph.D., V.P.Garmatny («Intelligence intelligence data of the partisan detachment named after N.F.Gastello on the deployment of Nazi units in the Berezovsky region and the mood of the local population during the Great Patriotic War»), as well as employees of the publications department of the NARB: head of the department, k.i.n., S.V.Kulinok («History of the restoration of Minsk in the first post-war years: based on archival documents»), researcher T.N.Ageenko («The role of the historical party establishment of the BSSR in the captured news of the regional history (1920-1930s)»), leading archivist O.N.Borovskaya («Development of the regional economy in the 1920s, as a result of the foreign affairs of the BSSR»), junior researcher T.V.Petyukevich («Dayce is sacredly pastured, not «variable»«: yes history of Minsk power plants in the 1920s).

Representatives of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region (A.V. Bogdanova, K.G.Karpekin, S.N.Myasoedova), the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (A.V.Baranovsky), the Central Scientific Library named after Yakub Kolas of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (D.A.Krent), Faculty of History of BSU (T.D.Gernovich, O.S.Ivanova), Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk (A.I.Korsak, E.V.Sumko) , engineer, local historian V.A.Sadovsky.
