Sound and photographic documents on the ethnography of Belarus from the collection of S.V. Boris entered the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents

The Belarusian teacher, journalist, folklorist, ethnographer, historian, local historian Semyon Vikentievich Boris transferred his collection of phono- and photographic documents to the archive for examination of the value and further transfer for permanent storage.

The collection of phonological documents includes folklore materials, recordings of Belarusian folk and ritual songs of residents of the villages of Ivanovsky, Dokshitsky, Smorgonsky, Vileysky, Volozhinsky, Logoisky, Molodechno, Myadelsky, Goretsky regions of Belarus, recorded by Semyon Vikentyevich in the 1960s – 1970s, as well as memoirs of former partisans of the Frunze and Sturmovaya brigades, other materials.

The photographic documents of the collection are represented by photographic negatives, which depict the rituals of Belarusians, including weddings, and various ethnographic objects.

Undoubtedly, the collection has high historical and cultural value, but it will be finally determined after digitization, examination of the value and description of documents.
