Employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» held an event within the framework of the «Young Archivist» project

On October 24, 2023, as part of the republican action «Archives to School» and the pilot project «Young Archivist», employees of the institution «State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» held an event with 9th grade students of the state educational institution «Secondary School No.3 of Gomel named after D.N.Penyazkova».

The children were given theoretical and practical lessons. During the theoretical lesson, the children were introduced to the operating procedures of users in the reading room of the state archive. During the practical lesson, the children tried themselves as researchers.

During the practical lesson, the children, under the guidance of archivists, identified in the state archive the personal file of the first post-war director of their school, Miron Fedorovich Vorobyov, and the military leader, Semyon Fedorovich Shakarov.

At the end of the event, the archivists donated copies of the identified documents to replenish the school museum room and gave the children a tour of the archives, where they showed how documents are stored, what serial numbers mean, and how one can navigate among such an abundance of information.
