On the conduct by employees of the institution «Zonal State Archive in Orsha», within the framework of the «Archives for School» campaign and the pilot project «Young Archivist», a lesson on the topic «Turning through the pages of history…»

October 5, 2023, on the eve of Archivist Day, as part of the republican action «Archives to School» and the pilot project «Young Archivist», and events dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation, with 8th grade students of the state educational institution «Secondary School No.8 Orsha» archive workers conducted another thematic lesson on the topic: «Turning through the pages of history…».

Ancient Orsha was once called a «monastic city», comparing it in this regard with the world-famous Russian Suzdal. On the territory of the city there were Catholic and Uniate monasteries of the monastic orders of the Jesuits, Mariavites, Trinitarians, missionaries, Bernardines, Basilians, Dominicans, Franciscans.

During this event, the children learned about the history of the State Archive building in Orsha – the former monastery of the Trinitarian Order, as well as the emergence and founders of the Catholic order, its activities and the time of its appearance in the Orsha region. Schoolchildren were offered a virtual tour of the archive building.
