Visit to BGAKFFD by historian-genealogist Alexei Biletsky

On July 7, the institution Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents was visited by a genealogist, historian of veterinary medicine and medicine, author and ideological inspirer of the project for the preservation of the Belarusian archival heritage Zhnivo, head of the project Formula Genealogy Aleksey Sergeevich Biletsky. During his speech to the team, Aleksey Bilektsy spoke about volunteer genealogical projects and movements, as well as about the possible forms of their interaction with the archives. As a gift to the archive, the third issue of the almanac of the international educational project GenExpo “PHOTO-DRAMA. Saving family photo albums. The issue presents a broad view on the role of photography in genealogy, attribution and history of photos, restoration and proper storage of images. In his article, published in the issue, A. Biletsky outlined the potential of visual sources in the study of local history, genealogy and the history of everyday life. Particular attention is paid to the BGAKFFD as an important institution in the post-Soviet space for the storage of visual history.
