On the lecture on the history of the Vitebsk Central Archive of Ancient Assembly Books for students of the Faculty of History of BSU

On July 5 and 12, 2023, as part of the Republican campaign «Archives for School» and the Year of Peace and Creation proclaimed in the Republic of Belarus, classes were held at the National Historical Archives of Belarus for first-year students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University (specialty «Historical and Archival Studies»), who are undergoing paleographic practice at the NIA of Belarus.

Within the framework of these events, Deputy Director of the NEA of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences Maxim Makarov delivered a lecture in 2 parts to the students of the Faculty of History of Belarusian State University on the history of creation and activity in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. the predecessor of the NIA of Belarus, the first historical archive on the territory of our country – the Vitebsk central archive of ancient act books of the provinces of Vitebsk and Mogilev. The lecture was accompanied by a demonstration of the original documents created during the functioning of this institution, from funds 2518 “Vitebsk Construction and Road Commission” and 2790 «Vitebsk Central Archive of Ancient Assembly Books» of the NIA of Belarus.

The factual and documentary material presented during the event aroused considerable interest among those present.
