Archival and museum practice of 2nd year students of the specialty «History» of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism of the Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala on the basis of the State Archive of the Grodno Region

On the basis of the institution «State Archive of the Grodno Region» in the period from 06.26.2023 to 07.01.2023, archival and museum practice was held for 2nd year students of the specialty «History» of the Faculty of History, Communication and Tourism of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

During the period of practice, students got acquainted with the main areas of the archive’s activities, learned about the features and specifics of the work of archivists.

During the practice, a lecture was held on the topic «The Role of Archives in the Preservation of Historical Heritage», where the children were told about the history of the emergence and development of archiving, the structure and features of the archive industry in Belarus. Also, during the practice, the topic «Echo of War» was revealed to the students. The staff of the archive demonstrated the exhibitions exhibited in the reading room «There was a people’s war. Partisans and underground fighters of the Grodno region», «We brought this day as close as we could…», «It is not subject to oblivion», as well as collections of documents and materials prepared with the participation of the State Archive of the Grodno Region.

A tour of the archive was organized, during which the students visited the archives, where they learned about the conditions for storing documents and saw especially valuable and unique documentary materials stored in the archive. In the laboratory, students saw how documents are restored and repaired.
