May 25 is a day in the history of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus
On May 25, 1992, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus adopted Resolution No.308, which touched upon various issues of the activities of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. The need to adopt a resolution of the Council of Ministers was associated with the assignment to the Ministry of additional functions to protect the rights and legitimate interests of enterprises, institutions, organizations and citizens, legal support for external relations and due to the increased role of the Ministry in lawmaking. The Decree approved the new structure of the central apparatus of the Ministry, consisting of 7 departments and 2 separate departments. The number of employees of the central office of the Ministry was increased to 96 people (excluding building maintenance personnel), deputy ministers – up to three, including one first deputy, the collegium of the Ministry – up to nine people. By the same decree, the Ministry of Justice was instructed to create in 1992-1995. Republican Center for Legal Information (currently the National Center for Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus) and submit a draft Regulation on the Ministry for approval by the Council of Ministers.
Employees of the department of information retrieval systems of the State Institution «National Archive of the Republic of Belarus» revealed the original document in the process of thematic development of resolutions and orders of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, stored in the archive. An electronic catalog card has been compiled for the resolution, which has replenished the systematic catalog and is available to all users of the archive’s reading room.
